LEAF - Local Ecology and Agriculture Fremont

Last night Fremont City Council rezoned the largest remaining agricultural land in Fremont, the Patterson Ranch Development District Land to non-agricultural zoning.  This is a huge loss for local agriculture.  LEAF (Local Ecology and Agriculture in Fremont) did nothing to stop this.  The only 'environmental' group to support the plan was Tri-City 'Ecology' whose Board member former Fremont mayor Gus Morrison made $200,000 from the Patterson Ranch landowners in fighting the attempt of preserving this land in 2006's Measure K Initiative in Fremont.

Attached is my speech before the council.

How sad... thught thst was settled a long time ago.  No, they sneak it pass without any one knowing about it.

Peace, Mary Kate

Mary Kate Crawford:

A lot of people knew about this Mary,  Measure K of 2006 was the largest grassroots effort ever in the City of Fremont.  We collected over 13,200 valid signatures.  We were outspent by Cargill and the the Patterson Ranch heirs $1.6 million to our $100,000.  One of the Patterson hiers, Chop Keenan won an $18.5 million judgement against the City of Half Moon Bay which is now on the verge of bankruptcy.

Several of the LEAF Board members know this issue.

There was no "sneaking" it by.

Greg

P.S. Former Fremont mayor Gus Morrison was paid $200,000 by the Patterson Ranch heirs to defeat Measure K and to ensure the loss of so much Agricultural Land.
