Hello All,
Much is happening at the LEAF center garden. We are closer to having the greenhouses up and running and will be starting the plant growing operation soon thereafter. We have two new nursery managers that will be running that part of the organization and they are, Alan Hackler and Isela Febres. Together they will do a great job for LEAF. The first batch of compost cooked up in the 3 bin composter is done and was spread out to the garden along with a truck load of compost that was donated and by Caroline.
There should be more weekdays that the garden will be open in the future and when I have that info I will pass it on.
I would like to get another load of wood chips/mulch brought to the garden so that we can continue the sheet mulching process that we have begun. There is much weeding to be done in the raised bed area if anyone can spare some time. If anyone can bring cardboard to the garden that would be great, larger boxes made flat would be best. Also if anyone come across 16'' cinder blocks for free or at a low per block price please let me know as we can really use them for the greenhouses and other spots in the garden. Thank you to everyone for your help. Steve
Comment by Jenny Mosley on January 7, 2011 at 2:51am We need to get the plumbing going into the greenhouses and we could work on that some on Sat if you would like. We are going to come off of the closest PVC stub near the corner of the greenhouse and I am thinking a shut off valve needs to be installed at that point probably down in the ground in a round green sub box then to the greenhouse and it could be surface mounted around the edge to come in from behind the greenhouses. I will be over there Sat around 0900 as well as others and hope to see you there. We will be weeding and sheet mulching also.
