the summer garden is all planted, thanks to all of you who helped to make this happen. We have a lot of flowers in the front of the garden that all reseeded themselves and currently look very inviting.

For the next few weeks there is only basic garden maintenace to do, some weeding, making sure the perimeter of the garden stays clear, watering the donated planted pots etc. We could use some more chips for the paths to be brought up from the pile below the garden. I had a long talk with the ground squirrels and they are trying to share more fairly this year ( though they could not entirely promise me that), lets hope for the best.

If you want to help out in the garden you will ususally find people there on Sundays arouund 11:15 am. I am often up there during the week for an hour or so. Let me know if you have an interest to see/ join the garden,  I will make arrangements to meet you there. Otherwise feel free to drop by any time.

Our spring work party is scheduled for Sunday March 25th, 2012 at 11:15 am. This is the time to weed, rototill the beds and add compast, freshen up our pathways and plant the first seedlings. Bring a sandwich if you like and water to drink, gloves are always helpful to have.

I will be up at the garden on Friday Sept. 16th from 10 to noon. Pulling out some old tomatoe plants, weeding and planting a little fall crop. Come join me if you can.

the food pantry director always seemed thrilled, no matter what I bring her!

I'm still happy to take produce from MPUUC to the Milpitas Food Pantry as needed.  I probably won't be there this Sunday, but anticipate being there throughout Sept.

For the last few weeks we had a volunteer signed up once a week for harvest duty. The help came mainly from members of the Mission Peak Unitarian Universalist Congregation (MPUUC). This Sunday Valerie Steward will be the lucky person, thanks Valerie!

I am looking for more people to help out with this duty. The harvest will go to personal use and to the Tri City Food Bank or the Milpitasl Food Pantry, whichever one is closer to you. The month of September is wide open, this can be done any day of the week, just let me know so I can plan ahead.

I will be at the garden Friday morning Aug.19th around 9 am to clean up the winter squash and do some weeding, join me if you can.

Thanks again Steve for watering and letting us know that the irrigation system needed some tending. My wonderful husband already fixed it!

The City of Fremont has approved our plans to build community gardens in the old Mission Adobe Nursery, but this plan is contingent on our ability to raise $30,000

If we can raise $15,000 from the local community, StopWaste.Org will provide us with a matching grant of $15,000.
