Comment by Susanne Joss on July 17, 2012 at 10:46pm Allyson,
so far everything we put out on the table was taken, no leftovers. I expect this to change when tomatoes are ready. I will let you know when the time comes and will appreciate your help.
I think there are 2 factors: for one we planted a greater variety that ripens at different times, so no more 50 lbs of beans being ready at the same time. Also members of MPUUC now know that we have good stuff coming out of the garden and are taking it as it gets ripe. Either way is just fine.
Comment by Allysson McDonald on July 17, 2012 at 1:43pm what is happening with the left overs from the garden share table on Sundays? I haven't been at services much so far since May, but plan to attend regularly for most of the summer now, so I could bring stuff to the food pantry in Milpitas if you want.
Comment by Susanne Joss on July 17, 2012 at 7:32am The garden is doing well. We harvested lots of yellow summer squash and zucchini, basil, strawberries and blackberries so far. Tomatoes are starting to come in, so are our peppers and cucumbers. We dug up all the volunteer potatoes the other day, what a nice harvest for doing nothing to it!
Thanks to all of you that have helped harvest and maintain the garden. Here is the updated harvesting schedule;
July 15: Lucy Rich
July 22 :Mark Henriquez
July 29: Valerie Steward
Aug 5 : Susanne Joss
Aug12: Millicent Fraticelli
Aug 19:Millicent Fraticelli
as usual I will send out an email reminder a few days prior to you
Comment by Susanne Joss on June 6, 2012 at 5:15pm our harvesting schedule is as follows:

Thank you all
Comment by Susanne Joss on May 2, 2012 at 7:13pm the summer garden is all planted, thanks to all of you who helped to make this happen. We have a lot of flowers in the front of the garden that all reseeded themselves and currently look very inviting.
For the next few weeks there is only basic garden maintenace to do, some weeding, making sure the perimeter of the garden stays clear, watering the donated planted pots etc. We could use some more chips for the paths to be brought up from the pile below the garden. I had a long talk with the ground squirrels and they are trying to share more fairly this year ( though they could not entirely promise me that), lets hope for the best.
If you want to help out in the garden you will ususally find people there on Sundays arouund 11:15 am. I am often up there during the week for an hour or so. Let me know if you have an interest to see/ join the garden, I will make arrangements to meet you there. Otherwise feel free to drop by any time.

Please join us if you can, bring gloves and knee pad if you wish.
Comment by Susanne Joss on February 27, 2012 at 9:46pm Our spring work party is scheduled for Sunday March 25th, 2012 at 11:15 am. This is the time to weed, rototill the beds and add compast, freshen up our pathways and plant the first seedlings. Bring a sandwich if you like and water to drink, gloves are always helpful to have.
