tree trimmings can be requested from Kelley Tree services 510 490 7902.  they do not charge for the wood  just the gas $10~20.

The FIERCE garden is going well, thank you! We seem to have remedied a short-term lack of volunteers (hopefully; we'll know for sure in a week or so) and hope to finish our first three planting boxes this Friday. Mr. Tom (the landscaper) just made a very nice general garden plan, and although we won't be able to get everything done before school starts we hope to get the majority (if not all) of the vegetable beds done by then. With a bit of luck we could also be able to plant in some fruit trees and vines in the early fall, and we plan on eventually building a small gazebo in the center (with grape or kiwis or something similar)!
By the way, you wouldn't happen to know any place where we might be able to get some free or discounted compost or topsoil, would you? I'd say that's our main limiting factor at the moment.

Thanks, and please feel free to stop by at any time! We're usually there Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 7:30 to 10:30.
