I'd love to meet.  I'm especially interested in how Mission Peak has organized its community garden.  My church has a work party itself this Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon; I'd be free in the early afternoon, and again free on early Sunday afternoon.  I'm also in town on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and any of those afternoons are usually good times for me.

I'm interested in learning about the organization of the Community Garden sponsored by Mission Peak UU.) 

I've been in-and-out of town for weeks.  Will there be a work party this Saturday?

I'm very interested in  transforming  our (Fremont Congregational's)  "vacant lot" into a community garden.  Melissa Pouchard, the Executive Director of Tri-Cities Volunteers, a food pantry, would like TCV to partner with Fremont Congregational Church and our Nursery School, and might be able to provide some staff and client help.  

Melissa is on vacation until 8/23, and our nursery school will not reopen until around Labor Day, so we will not be able to finalize details until September.  Do you believe it would be realistic to "break ground" in late September?  

Organizationally, would you suggest everything be done collectively?  Or reserve a few individual plots?  Can any member who wants just pick as much as they want?  Would you suggest building a fence to prevent anyone from just coming in?    

I simply do not know enough to write a description of the supplies needed to begin.  I'll need to wait for further conversations with Tri-Cities Volunteers and the Nursery School to determine how large a plot we'll need.  

Our next church council meeting will be Wed., August 17 in the p.m.; at that time, I'll ask council to approve the Concept, recognizing the details will be forthcoming and need to be reviewed later.
