California Nursery Company Historic Park

The apricots in the orchard at the California Nursery Company Historic Park are ready to pick!!! They are blenheim and royal apricot. This orchard was part of Roeding's experimental orchard, there were about 32-36 roles of various fruit trees, also there was a lot of Albert Etter's selections. The remaining roles 11-15 have been replanted off the old orchard notes from the Roeding's. There is also some gravenstein apples closer to Roeding's placeSee More

Profile Information

What is your occupation?
Public Works Supervisor (Grounds Division)
What organization, company or school are you affiliated with?
City of Union City
Why did you decide to join this group?
I love the soil, climate, history and culture of Fremont, Union City and Newark. FUN!
For the establishment of historic trees planted out by early plantsmen with great vision and charm. Bringing back an old orchard! Having access to growing grounds, potting soil and empty plant containers to propagate trees for the tri-city area (Washington Township) projects for eagle scout , church and school volunteers.

Hey Nelson welcome to LEAF, I envision many a good day working side by side with you and learning what it takes to be a plantsman. We are talking about a work party very soon to get the orchard you are responsible for saving in shape, it would be great to have you there with Bill and our volunteers to make sure we cut in the right places. Looking forward to a bright future at the California Nursery Park with CALNURCO, Friends of the Heirloom Gardens, and LEAF working together in Fremont's most magical Garden... Thanks for joining us....Bruce Cates LEAF Pres.
