Why did you decide to join this group?
I am an active gardener myself. My husband and I grow the majority of vegetables we need year round on our city lot in Fremont. I believe that with a growing interrest in community gardens we can lower our carbon footprint significantly . Who needs tomatoes in December, harvested green and shipped from South America if we can grow tasty lettuce, broccoli, chard, cauliflower, cabbage and a variety of stir fry greens during our winter months.
Our lifes are very preoccupied with carreers, school and sports and most of our children have no idea where their food comes from. Community gardens are are great way to connect with people, work together and learn from each other.
It's good for the earth, it's good for the people.

Thank you for the welcome:)

You have lovely pictures of the garden on your page. I look forward to getting my hands in the dirt soon. Can you tell me how I get started? Do you have scheduled meetings?

Thank you,

Sheetal.

Hello again!  Here is one URL for seed packet template.  It isn't the one I had before, but this one can be customized before printing, so maybe that would be useful.

Have Fun!

Hi, Susanne,

I'm sorry, I don't have the seed packet template any longer.  I had posted the URL on LEAF almost a year ago, so it should be in the archives.  When I have a moment I will Google and see if I can locate it again.

Hi Susanne - - the egg plants have been sprayed with soap and I also dropped off the compost bin.

Safer Soap?? I have some of that in my garage. Let me know if that is the soap you mentioned - - I can get out there tomorrow and spray the egg plant if that helps.

Hi Susanne:
Thank you for meeting me at the Washington garden yesterday. I picked some green beans and some weeds too (mostly around the egg plants). Some of the egg plants look like they need more water - - maybe that's what Michael was working on. There are carrotts growing underneath the green beans on the left side that should be ready soon!! Anyway, I really enjoyed meeting you and Michael. Thanks again, Jenny
