Our first ever Farm to Table fundraising dinner went amazingly well thanks to all who attended and supported LEAF. We had a great turnout Saturday evening on June 4th, 2011. Your support enables LEAF to provide environmental education and help build community among the residents of Fremont and beyond.
Special thanks to the chefs who created the delectable hors d’oeuvres and main entrees: Annie Wood of The Vine Restaurant, coming soon to Downtown Niles at 37553 Niles Blvd., Han Trinh of the Nile Café in Downtown Niles at 121 I Street, and Carolyn Berke of Niles Pie Company (www.nilespie.com).
Special thanks also to the musicians. The night wouldn’t have been as memorable without the music of Matt Hayden and friends - Michael McNevin, Chris Olinger and Pat McClellan, Bob Raym and Brenda Paddon, the East Bay Jazzinators, and Will Matlack and his band, The Gas Radio. Thanks also to Steve Meiers who provided and operated the sound system.
A big thank you to Anu Natarajan, Fremont City Council member, who came out to show support.
Thanks to Waste Management Earth Care for providing the mulch used as ground cover at the event.
Thanks to Veggielution for providing organic produce from their community farm in San Jose.
Thank you to the incredible volunteers especially the Girl Scouts who helped to make the dinner go smoothly.
We at LEAF hope to host similar events in the near future. We look forward to seeing you at our future events. We hope to see you at the community gardens for plantings and harvests. Please check our website www.leafcenter.org for details on our events and activities. If you have further inquiries about LEAF, please contact us at FremontLEAF@gmail.com. Thank you for your continued support.
Help us grow!
The City of Fremont has approved our plans to build community gardens in the old Mission Adobe Nursery, but this plan is contingent on our ability to raise $30,000.
If we can raise $15,000 from the local community, StopWaste.Org will provide us with a matching grant of $15,000.
